This time last week we were guessing that it was only a matter of time until we were sent into lockdown and here we are a week later and now firmly entrenched in the lockdown period that has already been extended once. We hope that you are surviving these challenging times and that you are managing the different demands and limitations that are thrust upon us all. Obviously we have now had three days of remote learning and we seem to be coping with this ‘unnatural’ platform for teaching and learning. Thank you to all the families and staff who are navigating this in the hope that it will only be short term and that we can return to face-to-face as soon as possible. To ensure that this happens quickly we encourage people to abide by the lockdown directives and stay home if at all possible. We are definitely in a different space to last lockdown as we are now very strict on the social distancing and close contact that can happen. The remote learning platform is now in full swing, at both home and school, and students are developing a reliance on the virtual methods to learn, ask questions and complete work. The school will continue to remain open for children of EMERGENCY workers and vulnerable students and will operate on a skeleton staff. Students are using the TEAMS platform to engage in virtual meetings and this has proven to be relatively successful when students are able to logon and access the schedules. We apologise that there have been some hiccups with the logons and passwords for our younger students but we are working to rectify this situation. If you are experiencing any problems please email either, your class teacher, Mr Winsor or the front office so that someone can investigate your concerns. I have reattached the instructions for anyone who missed them in last week’s newsletter or more recent schoolzine messages.
Obviously we will head into Week 7 under lockdown and remote learning will continue. Students across the school will continue to have work supplied and have the opportunity to engage with teachers. Secondary students will operate on the normal timetable and have scheduled work loaded onto google classroom at or before normal class times. They will also need to logon to any scheduled meetings to checkin with teachers and to have work and expectations explained. If, at any time, you have concerns about student work or issues with access please email teachers or the school and we will endeavour to investigate. Teachers are usually available at their normal lesson times for students to seek assistance and ask questions. An email is also a useful way to raise matters with a teacher. Please be patient as teachers answer the myriad of questions and monitor submitted work or tasks.

We are particularly concerned about the wellbeing and mental health of our students at this time. They are definitely missing the close contact of their peers and even their teachers. If at any time you are concerned about your child’s mental health there are options available to us to engage the school counsellor or other agencies to support them and you. We have attached to this newsletter some valuable websites to access if you would like to read about strategies and suggestions for how to support your child/ren during the COVID crisis.
Please keep those impacted by COVID-19 in your prayers. We have many vulnerable people in our communities that are feeling the crushing effects of no employment, sickness or mental health because of the current COVID situation.

We apologise that we postponed the virtual Year 7 Information Session. Once we have a bit more certainty with what is happening we will reschedule the event and send out the necessary links and invites. Thank you for your patience.
In your prayers this week please keep the people of Afghanistan, especially Kabul, in your prayers. The plight of the Afghan people is tragic and puts things in perspective.
Remember: If you can be anything…be kind!
God Bless! Stay well, stay safe and stay home!!!
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress.
Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen
