We are now racing towards the end of term at break-neck speed. Yet, there is still so much to accomplish in the final three weeks of term. Teachers are feverishly working to complete assessments and examinations to be able to finalise reports and feedback. Week 8 stands in the calendar as examination week for our secondary students in some of their subjects. Please check in with the students about the expectations that they have been given concerning their examination timetable and assessment schedule. If you have any queries concerning the exams please contact the front office or consult the student’s google classroom to find the relevant information for each year group. Infants and Primary students are also in the throes of completing tasks to assess their achievement of the semester outcomes. Phone calls home or all junior students have been happening over the past weeks. This is an excellent opportunity to stay informed of your student’s progress and development. Parent-teacher interviews will be offered early in Term 3 (dates to be advised).
Next week we will host the Western Region Athletics Carnival for the 12 schools in our region. Thank you to Ms Van Kerk Oerle and Mr Winsor for their coordination and organisation of the carnival. Convening the carnival is a massive undertaking to manage the volume of students who will compete on Thursday 16 June. If you are able to assist in anyway, please contact the school, we would really appreciate it.
Early last year Pope Francis announced a special year dedicated to the family. The Year of the Family began on March 19, 2021 and will conclude on June 26, 2022 on the occasion of the X World Meeting of Families in Rome. He established the Year of the Family to help strengthen faith and live God's joy more fruitfully in family life. His most recent directive was for parishes and churches to mark the end of the Year of the Family in their own areas with some special initiatives. As a Western Deanery (regional churches) initiative the Office of the Archbishop and the different parishes will offer the opportunity, free of charge, for families to enjoy a circus together on 10 July - the middle Sunday of the school holidays. At 2pm on Sunday afternoon a local family circus - Circus McCabe – will be set up on the secondary school lawn (entry via Sutton st) for a two hour show. More details will be made available as they come to hand.
Congratulations to all our awesome sportsmen and women who have conducted themselves with distinction over the past weeks. Next week we will showcase all of their amazing achievements from Term 2.
Illness and injury continue to blight our staff and students and we are trying our very best to make sure that learning is not impacted. It is something that cannot be helped and appreciate the generous and mature way that our students have embraced the disruption to the normal routine.
This week our Year 10 students travelled to Young to begin their consideration of, and transition to, life after Sacred Heart. It is definitely time for our senior students to consider the options that are open to them at the end of Year 10. Stage 6 is a big step when they are considering future directions and career opportunities. The students were a credit to their families, the school and themselves whilst they were at Hennessy Catholic College. They were positive and mature in their interactions and behaviour. They visited Year 11 and 12 classes and were able to explore the facilities of a senior school. Subject selection will be discussed early in Term 3 and we will make available further opportunities to learn and ask questions about the subjects offered at Stage 6 schools regardless of the school they choose.
We continue to keep families who are struggling with illness in our prayers and hope that God continues to hold them in the palm of his hand.
“Be kind. Be fair. Be honest. Be true. And all of these things will come back to you. Remember what goes around, comes around.” Kindness is never wasted.
God Bless

Coonabarabran North West Equestrian Expo
Macey Bryant and Eliza Tozer competed at the Coonabarabran Equestrian Expo from Thursday 2nd June to the 7th June. https://www.nwequestrianexpo.com.au/.
The girls both braved the weather conditions to represented Sacred heart at the Coonabarabran North West Equestrian Expo.
It was the 30th anniversary of the largest high school equestrian event in Australia.
There were Approximately 600 riders, from over 100 schools competing for 5 consecutive days.
Both girls competed in :-
- Working horse challenge (a set pattern with various changes to test the riders and horses ability)
- Team barrel race (riders complete a clover leaf pattern around 3 drums in a timed event)
- Team penning (drafting and holding of cattle)
- Warrambungle way (polo crosse, water jump, whip cracking, mechanical cow and free style talent)
- Sporting (flag race, barrel race, bending, keyhole, time trial)
Both girls performed incredibly well and gained further skills and confidence from the experience. Macey placed 3rd in the Flags which was part of the Sporting events.
In between their own events they were able to watch other disciplines such as Polo Crosse, Dressage and Jumping which gave them a great insight to what other events they can get into for future shows.
Emma Bryant (Parent)
Congratulations.
