What a week of wild weather! We have had it all this week – beautiful sunshine and torrential rain and everything in between. It has continue to play havoc with our reroofing in primary and we will now have to wait until the middle of next week (hopefully) to return our Primary classes to their normal routine. It has also destroyed our playing surfaces with the combination of tradesmen vehicles and delivery trucks. However, we have ploughed on with learning, nonetheless. Hopefully everyone managed to survive the extreme rainfall as well as could be expected. It will soon be hot and sweaty before we know it too.
This week saw a very successful Book Fair and a huge thank you goes to Mrs Emma Randall who organised and manned the Fair. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to visit in the inclement weather and bought some of the wonderful books on offer. The value of reading cannot be understated, and we encourage all students – big and small to make reading a priority every day. The benefit to long time learning is amazing and is a life-long skill.
The parent-teacher interviews were also very successful and the teachers appreciated the opportunity to discuss the progress and learning of the students. If you missed the opportunity to have a conversation with the teachers there is always the opportunity to send them an email if you have any important queries. It is important to note that teachers will not be able to respond immediately, and it is expected that they will generally respond within a 24 hour period. Please do not expect a response over weekends. You can always make enquiries through the Front Office as well if it is urgent.
All students were issued with a packet of 5 RATs this week and we ask that testing continues if the students display any COVID-like symptoms. We are continuing to monitor the numbers of COVID cases within the school and amongst the staff. Please contact the front office if your child tests positive to COVID. Also all secondary students who are close contacts must continue to wear masks and test negative for the next 5 days.
Planning is in place for classes for next year. Please contact me at the school if you have plans for 2023 that impact on our enrolments. Also please encourage anyone you know who is considering Sacred Heart to make an appointment to meet with me at their earliest convenience.
Next Tuesday 9 August we will be hosting the Year 7 2023 information afternoon. To keep COVID at bay and contact to a minimum, we are offering tours of the school when people arrive throughout the afternoon from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. There is no need to book a tour. Students and parents will be shown all we have to offer across the secondary campus and staff and students will be available to talk through important information and answer any questions. If you require any further information please contact the school.
Mrs Kathy Holding, Principal of Hennessy Catholic College in Young will be here on site next Monday 8 August to meet with the Year 11 2023 and their parents about subject selection. She will also be available on Friday 12 August until 2pm if you have not yet made an appointment through the Hennessy front office. We have a very strong partnership with Hennessy and it is our pathway for Stage 6. If you would like more information please contact their front office on (02) 6382 1486 to book an appointment with the Principal and a tour of the school.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings
Ms Nicky Trinder

External Sport Term 3
With the new COVID restrictions for schools, external sport for term 3 will be a game of wait-and-see. At this stage we are allowed to participate in events that are either finals or pathways sports depending on the teacher's impact behind at school. The main concern is with teacher shortages for a variety of reasons, and having no-one left to cover classes at school. Each event will be assessed independently.
Primary Sport
CG Athletics - Canberra
This event will go ahead as scheduled, please remember to register your child at https://csnsw.sport/. If you are unsure of how to register please contact me and I will be happy to assist. Notes went home last term with those students who qualified.

This Event will go ahead next Thursday the 11th of August. Thank You to the parents who have volunteered to coach or transport students. Without your assistance days like this cannot run. A draw and note will go out early next week with travel arrangements.
