Today we pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth and all that she achieved over such an impressive life of service. We can take many things from her example of how to live a life that cares for the greater good. Her faith was the foundation on which she lived, “ Throughout my life, the message and teachings of Christ have been my guide and in them I find hope.” Her message of hope is important for all of us and her steadfast witness of faith is inspiring.
Week 8 has come and gone and we are edging closer to the end of Term 3. It has been a mammoth term and staff and students are feeling fatigued and are looking towards the holidays. However, we still have two very productive weeks of learning to go and lots is happening. It is of the utmost importance that our students are getting enough sleep to cope with the last weeks. Good sleep hygiene is vital to a student’s ability to manage throughout the day. Every student needs adequate sleep to be able to learn, interact, be productive and be relational. It is obvious in any classroom when a student has not had enough sleep. This can obviously be due to many factors but the use of electronic equipment close to bedtime is definitely a way to disturb effective sleep patterns.
We appreciate that everyone is insanely busy and we all live hectic, crowded lives. However, we are in desperate need of volunteers to assist in the canteen, especially on Friday. Our canteen does an amazing job at providing an important service and Friday is our busiest day with over 140 lunch orders on an average Friday. Please contact the front office if you could be assist in any way. Also out P & F are keenly seeking assistance for the Wattle Time Fair. We need volunteers to help prepare the pulled pork rolls Friday 16th and serve on the Saturday at Albert Park. We are also seeking donations of goods to increase our profits. If you would like to donate any goods or your time please call the front office on Monday.
A reminder that Catholic Education have again given schools the option to hold pupil free days to compensate for the lost release and planning time due to lack of casual staff and COVID. We have tried to avoid inconveniencing families so we will be holding the pupil free day on the last day of this term – 23 September. This will also allow the students returning from the Stage 5 excursions the opportunity to sleep in after their late night arrivals. Thank
Today let us remember the example of our Queen devoted to duty, steadfast in faith and firm in upholding the teachings of Christ.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder

As part of planet Earth Sunday Stage 3 enhanced our primary vegetable patch with adding a range of new vegetables and herbs. Experiencing the responsibility of caring for something living is a marvellous way of being a true Steward of our amazing earth.
YEAR 10 Faith in Action
Throughout the year our Year 10 students participate in a Faith in Action program. A program which gives our students the opportunity to see how service and giving back is a strong element of our faith. It is amazing to watch our young adults connect with and learn from all members of our community. Below is a photo of our Year 10 group help the Southern Cross Care Retirement Home prepare for their spring photos.

Wheelchair Roadshow
On Wednesday 6th - Friday 8th September, we hosted the bi-annual Wheelchair Roadshow.
The presentations to the Stage 2, Stage 3 and Secondary PE classes were focussed on Roadsafety and Disability Awareness, and students participated in Wheelchair Basketball. The final message to the students was:
“...that the Wheelchair Roadshow experience could be the best fun you ever have in a wheelchair. Be grateful to be able to leave the chair behind and walk away from it. Do what you can to look after yourself and your safety and the safety of those around you.”
The presentation for the 9/10 elective PASS (Physical Activity and Sports Studies) classes were based on the syllabus module Sport for Specific Groups. We discussed the many current and emerging sports available for people with disabilities, the equipment and technology used, modifications to games to cater for athletes with disabilities, the classification systems used to assist with equity and inclusion of as many athletes as possible, and the increasing profile of disability sports and athletes through the greater media coverage at the Commonwealth and Paralympic Games. PASS students participated in Wheelchair AFL, then played Wheelchair Basketball and AFL as part of their PASS Olympics Challenge.
Thanks to Brendon Talbott from Wheelchair Sports NSW for making the trip from Sydney, sharing his stories and experience, and presenting to our classes. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time and hopefully gained a little insight and empathy for the challenges of using a wheelchair.
Good Luck
Good luck to Ned Murray, Georgia Harris, Caitlyn Cram, George Smith and Josh Harris who will compete at the NSWCCC Athletics in Homebush next Monday 12th Sept.
Southern Sport Academy Trials
Southern Sports Academy Trials have opened for 2023. Below is an email received. Please note that this is not a school based pathway.
Dear Sports Co-ordinator,
The Academy has now opened applications for ALL its 2023 sporting programs – BASKETBALL, CYCLING, GOLF, HOCKEY, NETBALL, and RUGBY.
We are looking for talented and keen athletes to participate in all our programs. There are also positions available for staff who are interested in coaching and helping the next group of young sportspeople progress in their chosen sport.
There are different eligibility criteria and closing dates for each sport, athletes can find this information on the nomination forms at www.ssa-nsw.org.au/Nominations.
The Academy is very appreciative of the support we receive from schools in the region and acknowledge the valuable role you play in athlete development. We trust your school will be supportive of this unique opportunity for our Southern NSW athletes, and I thank you in anticipation of your cooperation.
If you require additional information concerning the program or the Southern Sports Academy, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0499 389577.
