And so ends another productive term at Sacred Heart! It has been a massive term for our whole community with so much happening. We definitely finished the term with a bang and our final week was filled with excursions to Sydney and Melbourne, festive celebrations for Fr Lolesio, more rain, Sydney Athletics, the National Day of Mourning and loads of learning for everyone. Everyone has earned a restful and relaxing holiday after such a frenetic term. Please stay safe and hopefully everyone manages to have some quieter time to refresh in preparation for a final term.
Thank you to the wonderful staff who accompanied our Year 9 and 10 students on their respective excursions to Sydney and Melbourne. There were lots of very tired students and staff who stumbled from the train in the early hours of this morning. Lots of memories were made and lots of amazing experiences were had. Students returned with lighter wallets, sore feet and lots to talk about. We look forward to full reports in the Term 4 newsletters. Many photos were shared on our Facebook page that document some of the experiences for our students. All students were very well behaved, and the teachers had lots of positives to report.
A reminder that next term we will return to school with students able to wear their summer uniform. There will be a two-week transition from winter to summer to allow students the chance to find and/or purchase the required items. We are also looking at selecting a dress short design to complement the girls summer uniform. Local suppliers are investigating options that are economical and suitable for all shape and sizes.
School will return for staff for Term 4 on MONDAY 10th October. The Front Office will not be operational on the Monday as all staff are involved in a training program. ALL STUDENTS RETURN TUESDAY 11th OCTOBER.
The Science Fair will now be held on Wednesday 12 October after it was cancelled this week due to poor weather forecasts. Lots of time then for our budding scientists to be practising their science skills.
Hopefully the weather will be kind to us over the break and our staff and students can enjoy some time outside away from devices, television and computer screens. We all need time away from technology and the social media influences.
Travel safely and we look forward to more wonderful learning in Term 4.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
In Religion Stage 3 have been exploring Works of Mercy as one of their big concepts for this term. The students looked at how people offer up their lives in the way of service to others. They identified Fr Lolesio as one such person and wanted to show their gratitude so they planned a little celebration for him. The students learnt the song I am Sailing by Rod Stewart (one of Fathers favourite song) made him cards of thanks, collected and shared images of his beloved homeland Samoa and shared lunchtime with him. Father was very touched by the celebration.
