Yamandhu….hello in Wiradjuri.
We are about to enter the penultimate week of our term. When we look back on all that has gone on it is impressive that we managed to get through so much and so many different activities. There are still many different activities still to come in the final two weeks. Today our Primary athletes are competing in the Western Region Athletics in Tumut and I have already received reports about how impressive they have been in terms of effort and presentation. A full update will be in next week’s newsletter (I hope!).
We have nearly competed the preparation of the Sacrament of Confirmation through the Thursday afternoon sessions. The Sacrament will be conferred by Archbishop Prowse at the Saturday Vigil Mass on the 24 June. Thank you to Mrs Maxwell, class teachers and Sr Kathy for their support of this very special celebration.
Yesterday our Year 10 Mock trial team took on the impressive Rosebank College from Five Dock. Our small, yet enthusiastic and talented team once again took on Year 11 students to show off their legal prowess and understanding. This little team has been outstanding in their efforts in the competition but unfortunately will not proceed any further. Hopefully they learnt a lot about the legal system and how it functions and serves the community.
On Wednesday 28 June all our students will be part of the inaugural NAIDOC Gudhamangdhuray Schools Games Day. This will involve all the Cootamundra School students in 2 gatherings at Nicholson Park to celebrate an inclusive recognition of our First Nations community. More details to follow. Thank you to Mrs Sannazarro, Mrs Maher and Mr Winsor for all their efforts in preparing for the day.
Next week we will be conducting personal tours for new families considering enrolment. This is an exciting time for families who are considering joining our community. If you know of anyone who is interested in enrolling their child/children please ask them to make contact with the school to book an appointment/tour and get further information about our wonderful school.
This is a really important reminder. We request – quite strenuously – that parents do not pick students up from the bus stop of an afternoon which necessitates students walking from the kerb between or in front of buses to the waiting cars on the opposite side. This is a very dangerous practice that can have dangerous possibilities. Please make arrangements to pick up children from Morris St or Temora St or again meet them at the front office rather than the Sutton St bus stop. Each afternoon it is very congested with buses arriving quite quickly and departing quickly that we are trying to keep all our students safe all of the time. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Term Two fees are due now overdue. Please contact the Front Office to make an appointment to speak with me if there are any concerns. This is confidential.
Please remember that there is always a reason to be kind and that we may never realise or understand the benefit that it may have to someone’s day if we are kind.
God Bless
