Yamandhu….hello in Wiradjuri.
We made it!!! We are now into the final week of Term 2 which has been a massive term with so much happening/. We have had so much sickness, so many absent staff and students, so many sporting trips, so much learning and so many events. Today was the wonderful Stage 2N assembly. It was a tribute to the students current study of the convict journey to colonial Australia. It was an energetic presentation of all that they have been learning in class. Mr Niddrie had prepared the students and they were very polished and amazing in their performance. Congratulations to all the students.
Next Monday our delightful Stage 1 students will host their community fete. They are looking at ways that communities support each other and how we look after those in need in our community. Following on from Jesus they are trying to a build community that benefits all. They have prepared many different activities to run for the attendees for the cost of a gold coin donation. All monies raised will be donated to CanAssist and Red Cross. Thank you to the wonderful teachers in Stage 1 for their initiative to inspire our students to give back to the communities in which they live. It will be uniform free for the entire school. The P & F will be running a BBQ/sausage sizzle as well.
This Saturday at the Vigil Mass the Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by Archbishop Prowse at 5pm. Thank you to Mrs Maxwell, class teachers and Sr Kathy for their support of this very special celebration.
We are looking forward to the inaugural NAIDOC Gudhamangdhuray Schools Games Day. This will involve all the Cootamundra School students in 2 gatherings at Nicholson Park to celebrate an inclusive recognition of our First Nations community. More details to follow. Thank you to Mrs Sannazarro, Mrs Maher and Mr Winsor for all their efforts in preparing for the day. We will be taking a photo of all the students in Cootamundra at 12.30 which will be another first. It will be taken in the shape of the Cootamundry turtle.
Lat week I sent out this message regarding picking up students from the bus zone. We request – quite strenuously – that parents do not pick students up from the bus stop of an afternoon which necessitates students walking from the kerb between or in front of buses to the waiting cars on the opposite side. This is a very dangerous practice that can have dangerous possibilities. Please make arrangements to pick up children from Morris St or Temora St or again meet them at the front office rather than the Sutton st bus stop. Each afternoon it is very congested with buses arriving quite quickly and departing quickly that we are trying to keep all our students safe all of the time. I would like to add to this that people are especially vigilant on Morris St as well because many children are ducking out between cars to cross the road to parked cars or to walk down Thompson St.
Next week we hope to publish an expose for the term’s activities. Stay tuned.
Please remember that there is always a reason to be kind and that we may never realise or understand the benefit that it may have to someone’s day if we are kind.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder

National Consistent Collection of Data
Dear parents, guardians and carers
Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government from their Personalised Plans for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
Kind regards
Principal
