Dear Sacred Heart Families,
Happy Easter to our wonderful community. Please take some time over the long weekend to remember the meaning behind Easter and why it is the most significant day in our Faith calendar. The death and resurrection of the Son of God is the foundation of our beliefs and ultimately the way we live our lives. The love and selfless sacrifice is a model for how we interact with others and a lesson in being kind always. We hope you have a wonderful family time and travel safely if you are making the most of the extra long weekend.
This morning our Year 9 students led the school community in the prayerful representation of the Passion of our Lord. The students were reverent and maturely respectful of the solemnity of the presentation. It moved many in the congregation to tears as they dwelt on the significance of the presentation. Thank you to Mrs Maxwell and Ms Wade for their leadership and guidance. Our students were truly amazing and I could not have been more proud of their efforts and respect. Tomorrow (Friday 29th March) at 10am in the Church the students will again present the Passion of our Lord for the wider Parish community. All are most welcome to attend.
This afternoon in the Infants playground it was glorious to see our Infants students parade and prance in front of their families and school community. The joy on their faces was delightful and was a lovely way to make the Easter celebrations.
A reminder that next Sunday 7 April we will be holding a short (and hopefully productive) Working Bee in the school playgrounds. Already some families have generously offered their help and we are very grateful. If you are able to spare a few hours - 11am - 1pm then we would really appreciate it. If you brought some hedge trimmers, pressure washers, trailers and other general garden equipment then we can attack some of the areas of the Infants gardens, clean down the eating areas and buildings and move some rubbish from the yard. We do have some equipment so don't stress if you don't have access to tools. We would love to see you there and if you could let the front office know that you intend to help then we can cater for a light lunch.
Over the final two weeks of the term we do have a few staff who are taking well deserved Long Service Leave. Currently Mr and Mrs Smith are touring Europe and having a wonderful time I'm sure. Mr Alderman will be travelling to Tasmania to see the sights and our lovely librarian Mrs Randall will also be having an extended break. We try very hard to ensure our students' learning is not interrupted by absences and many of our teachers had postponed leave because of COVID and are entitled to take their leave. The challenge of finding staff is wide spread and we are very grateful for the casual staff who take classes to ensure that the school can run smoothly.
We are also desperately seeking volunteers to assist in the canteen. Amanda does an amazing job and the canteen is a very popular resources for families and the school. If you can spare some time, particularly on Thursdays or Fridays we would love to see you. Maybe you can ask grandparents if they would like to help out as well.
Yesterday our Senior Leadership team and members of the Youth Council travelled to Wagga to participate in the REROC Leadership experience. In the quick catch up that I managed the students were exemplary in their behaviour and attitude and also their willingness to get involved. Hopefully we will see a full report next week.
I hope that the extra long weekend is a joyous time and that everyone has a rest and is refreshed for the juggernaut to the end of term . Next week we have Year 6 reflection Day and the Annual Cross Country. (Please note - we are urgently seeking volunteers to assist on checkpoints too please). So we will make the absolute most of the 9 days left in the term before holidays begin on 12 April for two weeks.
Remember there is always a reason to be kind.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
Principal
Holy Week
During this most special time of our Church’s year, we experience such a wide arrange of human emotion. From the jubilation of Palm Sunday through to the sorrow of the Passion of our Lord and onto the joy of Easter Sunday and the Resurrection. Thank you to our Yr 9 Students who enacted the Passion of our Lord on Thursday at school and will also continue the long tradition of Praying the Passion of our Lord on Good Friday at 10:00am. All are welcome to join in this liturgy.
Re-establishment of Altar Servers
Together with the Parish we are looking to reestablish our altar servers’ program. Students who are in Year 4, 5, 6 and Secondary and who have made their First Eucharist are invited to be a part of our Parish Altar Serving Roster for the Saturday Masses. It is a beautiful ministry that you can offer your children in their faith life.
Mass Time
Saturday -5:00 pm and 6:00 pm (During Daylight saving)
For the children who wish to serve on the altar there will be training sessions at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday 2nd April with Sr Kathy Hodge and Mrs Patrece Maxwell
An information note has been sent home with interest students. Please contact Mrs Maxwell if your child is interested.
Thank you. May the good Lord bless all you are doing for your child’s faith formation.
