This is the penultimate newsletter for Term 1 2024. The weeks have passed so quickly, and we have been blessed to have made beautiful memories for this term. The weather typically takes a turn whenever we try to plan things. But we are incredibly grateful for the rain but hope the weather stays a little warmer for a few more weeks yet. We will slowly make the transition to winter uniform over the last week of Term 1 and the early weeks of Term 2. A reminder that winter uniform does include the tie (worn correctly) and the correct jumpers, coats and our school hat. Please consult the uniform list on our website before you purchase new items for winter so that you do not mistakenly purchase items that are not part of our uniform.
We hope that everyone had a special and blessed Easter. Once again, we congratulate our marvelous Year 9 students (assisted by some Year 8s) for their presentation of the Passion on Good Friday. The Parish community were in awe of the respect and reverence that our students showed in the Passion Play 2024. We thank them for their service and Mrs Maxwell and Ms Wade for their leadership.
This week was also the next level of swimming representation for our Primary and Secondary swimmers. The students have been preparing for the whole term for this week’s qualifying for state levels. Congratulations to all our swimmers for their efforts and commitment. Please see the Sports Report all of the results and the accompanying photos. Thank you to our parents for their enthusiastic support and preparedness to travel across the state for our students.
Next week will see school break for the autumn holidays on Friday 12 April. We hope to hold our Cross Country on this day to finish the term on a high. Again, we are seeking assistance to help man checkpoints and additional roles on the day. Please contact Ms Withers or Ms Van Kerk Oerle if you are able to assist in any way.
Students will return for Term 2 on TUESDAY 30 April. Our teaching staff will be involved in a professional learning day in Young. The Front Office will be open on Monday.
During the holiday break we will commemorate ANZAC Day 25 April. We hope that despite the holidays many of our school community – staff and students will still march proudly with our veterans and representatives of other community groups. Details will be posted on COMPASS and on Facebook to remind everyone in the days preceding the March. A decision on which uniform will be made closer to the day. This is an important part of our school calendar to recognize the service of all the men and women who have fought and died for our wonderful country. It also recognizes the continuing role of our current servicemen and women who work to ensure that we enjoy the freedoms and rights that we often take for granted. It is also a timely reminder that many students around the world live in war torn countries and we need to pray for an end to conflict so that everyone gets to live in peace and freedom.
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone our Working Bee because of the likelihood of inclement weather. Thank you to the wonderful families that volunteered to help. Our school thrives on the generosity of our families. Hopefully the weather will stay nice enough for us to hold it in the early weeks of Term 2. Stay tuned.
Have a wonderful week, enjoy the rain and stay dry. Remember there is always a reason to be kind.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
Principal
Yr 6 Reflection Day
On Thursday Year 6 gathered at Dickson Hall to enjoy their Reflection Day. The theme of the day was “Let Your Light Shine.” The focus of the day was to look at our special gifts and talents and how we should use them. The students engaged in a range of activities including games, singing, prayers, media presentations and group discussions to explore this theme. Thank you to Mrs Winsor for supporting us on this special day.
