We have reached the end of Term 2 and the successes and achievements are too many to mention. All students and staff are very deserving of two wonderful weeks of rest and rejuvenation. We hope that everyone has a safe holiday and returns to school on 23 July ready for another big term.
Yesterday we celebrated the NAIDOC Liturgy as a whole school. Together we acknowledged the contributions and importance of our First Nations people and especially those connected with our school. We were privileged to have Mr Murray Izzard beginning our celebration with his playing of the didgeridoo and to have Samanatha Pearce (nee Maxwell) acknowledge her cultural journey of recognition where she values the connections she has to her ancestry and family. Our Stage 3 students were outstanding in their leadership of the Liturgy and we hope that our community also recognised the value of our connection to our local First Nations people.
On Wednesday our Secondary U16s Girls Rugby League were the inaugural winners of the Rachael Pearson trophy for Schoolgirls Rugby League in Wagga Wagga. This is an enormous achievement and our girls displayed skills, determination and resilience to go through undefeated. Congratulations. Thank you to Ms Murray for her leadership of the girls team. The girls now move onto the next level of the competition.
Next term we will see the staging of the latest production Man of Steel. Many hours have gone into the preparation for the performance. Tickets for the night performances will be on sale at Kevin Deeps Clothing Store in Parker St. over the holiday period. We hope that you buy a ticket to support our talented students and enjoy a night of entertainment and lots of laughs.
Hopefully over the holidays we will get the go-ahead to begin the construction of the Primary Building deck and refurbishment. It promises to be an amazing space for our Primary students to learn and grow. There are exciting times ahead. Unfortunately, we will not be finished and able to move back into the building until later than expected. However, we are making the Convent space work as temporary classrooms and it has not impacted on the learning and progress of our students. Thank you to our Year 3-6 staff and students who have adapted to the Convent space and embraced the change with enthusiasm and grace. We can’t wait to be in our new classrooms.
Our Jump Rope for Heart afternoon was an amazing fundraiser and our generous students and community raised over $7000 for the Heart Foundation which helps to fund ground-breaking research to fight heart disease. It also helps to promote healthy activities through fun and simple exercise. Congratulations to our Primary students.
Our Infants students had a wonderful afternoon marking the end of term with an 80s themed fluoro disco. There was boundless energy and some frantic dance moves from both staff and students. Thank you to our Infants staff for providing such a fun afternoon.
Today our reports will be released on COMPASS for Semester One. Many hours of assessment data has been scrutinised to provide informative and clear reporting on students’ progress and development. Please read them carefully and bring any questions, queries or concerns to the Parent/Teacher conferences early next term.
Please travel safely over the holidays and we look forward to another action-packed Term 3.
Remember kind is the new cool!
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder

TERM 2 SCHOOL FEES
A reminder to families that Term 2 School Fees are now overdue.
Prompt payment would be greatly appreciated.
~Middle East Area of Operations~
This term Stage 3 have been involved in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) commemoration, which acknowledges Australia's involvement in the US-led military operation in the Middle East between 2001-2021.
Last week, ex-serviceman Danny Whitehead, spoke to Stage 3 about his time spent serving our country in the Middle East. Our students then created postcards of honour for veterans who have served for our country. Their messages showed their gratitude, respect and appreciation for these brave men and women. Today we presented these postcards to the Cootamundra RSL who will distribute them to veterans in our local community.

Rachael Pearson Trophy (Schoolgirl Trophy) - Rugby League
Our 16s girls tackle team travelled to Wagga on Wednesday 3rd July to play in the Riverina Schoolgirl Trophy Final.
They first took on Kildare College and opened up the scoring early, putting Kildare on the back foot. With solid play through the middle including strong attacking runs from Josey Hoey and Grace Derrick, the girls were in front by half time. Outstanding defence from Nellie Ward, Shyla Willoughby and Alexis Carr restricted scoring opportunities for the opposition, and with precision kicking from Ashlee Peacey, the girls came away with a 22-8 victory.
After the game our 2 captains Lucy Paterson and Shyla Willoughby were interviewed by Prime 7 news, and did a wonderful job speaking on behalf of our school.

The second game saw the girls up against West Wyalong, who they had only narrowly beaten in their qualifying round. Their flawless defence kept West Wyalong scoreless. Matilda Sannazzaro out wide and Willow Hall through the middle were both strong in defence.
The last game was against the favourites, Murrumbidgee. Sacred Heart opened the scoring early and that set the tone for the rest of the game. Hallie Kelly’s running game and line defence was well supported with hit-ups from Scarlett Chambers and Caitlin Taber. Leila Ismay provided invaluable back up late in the game as the girls came away with 2 late tries to seal victory.
The highlight of the day was being crowned as the inaugural Rachael Pearson Trophy winners, with NSW Origin and Parramatta halfback, Racheal Pearson there to present the girls with the shield. Captain Shyla Willoughby thanked the organisers and the opposition in a double celebration on her birthday. Coach, Ms Murray, has praised the supportive team mentality shown by all the girls on the day, the Sacred Heart crest was worn with pride, honour and passion. Huge thanks to all the parents who travelled over to support the team.
