As we enter the penultimate week of Term 3 it is timely to look back on all the challenges and successes of these past weeks. There have been so many achievements, too many to recount in a single newsletter, as our students made the most of all the learning opportunities provided by our teachers. Everyone has tirelessly worked throughout the term so they are deserving of a two week holiday at the end of next week. Hopefully the weather will be delightful over the coming weeks and students, staff and families will be able to enjoy beautiful spring days and a relaxing and refreshing time in preparation for an action-packed Term 4. Already the calendar is jammed with so many different and exciting things. Please consult the calendar in anticipation of many important events in the opening weeks like excursions, the fun run, Boorowa Carnival and so many more things.
STAFFING 2020
We are deep in the throes of planning for the structures and preparation for 2020. This involves the promotion of employment opportunities for next year because of staffing allocations from the Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn. Today we have had it confirmed that we will be able to staff two separate Kindergarten classes and a wonderful recognition of the support from our head office for our little school. This is a fantastic result for our newest cohort as they will be able to begin their learning journey in the very best environment. If you know of anyone who would benefit from their child being in our delightfully small kinder classes then please encourage them to make an appointment to meet with me to discuss enrolment. A reminder that our Kindergarten transition continues tomorrow 19 September from 9am until 12noon.
When we begin next term we will start to look at staffing and classing allocations for the remaining classes. If you have any special considerations that you would like to be taken into account then please make an appointment to discuss them with me early in the new term. There are every any guarantees but the best outcomes for students are always the lens with which we consider requests or concerns.
Work of the Week
Today’s Work of the Week is awarded to a young man in 1GH who has made a very determined effort to improve and develop his writing. Levi Phillips has produced some excellent writing which highlights his effort, positive attitude and growing skills.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
This Friday we will have three speakers in the Archdiocesan Public Speaking Final competition competing against the very best from across our diocese. We wish Gillian Hunt, Lucy Shields and Sarah Harris the very best of luck and know that they will do themselves, their families and the school proud.
P & F TRIVIA
The P & F Trivia night which was held last Friday was an enormous success. There were 18 tables that enjoyed the challenging and stimulating questions provided by the trivia master himself – Mr Scott

P & F TRIVIA
The P & F Trivia night which was held last Friday was an enormous success. There were 18 tables that enjoyed the challenging and stimulating questions provided by the trivia master himself – Mr Scott Roberts. Everyone was highly entertained by our compere Mr Paul Miller and a great night was had by all. The night raised over $2500 and was a tribute to the hard work of Mrs Emma deep on behalf of our dedicated P & F committee who organised an excellent night of entertainment for the whole family. Thank you to all who attended and a huge thank you to all those who helped
HENTY - Agriculture Field trip
Today our year 9/10 elective class for Agricultural Technology travelled to Henty as part of their investigation into rural technology and advances. Under the guidance of the agricultural guru Mr Tim Mahon our students have enjoyed a lovely Spring day taking in the sights and smells of a rural lifestyle and/or career. Thank you to Mr Mahon for taking the initiative to make this available to our students.
HEAD LICE
Recently we have had several cases of head lice. Under the Canberra Goulburn CE policy students who are found to have head lice are asked to be removed from school until they have been treated and then they may return. Please be vigilant in checking your children’s hair to prevent the spread of “nits”. I have attached a pdf link that explains how to wet-comb the hair to remove nits.
How to get rid of head lice using the wet combing technique (PDF 408KB)
NAPLAN
The NAPLAN results have arrived in schools and we will be sending out the student reports to parents by the end of this week. Please be mindful that there are many different factors to consider when unpacking your child’s results especially some of the issues that the students experienced with the online format. Teachers will be devoting time to considering what the trends indicate for our school. If you have any queries about the report please contact your class teacher/s.
Go gently and if you can be anything…be kind!
God Bless
Mrs Nicky Trinder
Principal
