Newsletter Week 3 Term 4
Our Year 8 and 9 students returned home last Friday after wonderful excursions. The reports from the teachers, the different supervisors, parents and general public interactions were that our students were exceptionally well-behaved, polite and respectful at all times. It is so lovely to hear the commendations about our students. The students, according to all reports were helpful, delightful and appreciative at all times. Thank you, once again, to our teachers – Mr Mahon, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Cusack, Mrs Murray, Mr Alderman and Mrs Gale for accompanying and supervising the students. These wonderful memory making opportunities are an important part in providing our students with the opportunities to see life beyond the Cootamundra town limits.
O’Shaughnessy Mass 2 Nov
We will hold our final House Mass this Saturday 2 November at 6pm. This Mass is to be led by the students and staff of O’Shaughnessy. These masses have proved to be a huge success with so many more students and their families joining with the Parish in the Eucharist and then in an evening meal. At the conclusion of this Mass there will be a light BBQ tea for everyone on the secondary lawn beside the library. We hope to see lots of students and their families.
Infants Athletics Carnival
A highlight of the Infants students’ year is always the Infants Athletics Carnival. This Friday 1 November our littlest students will take to Albert Park to compete in a myriad of events to determine the Champion House for 2019. This is a lovely day all about participation and activity. Our Year 9/10 PASS class and Primary leaders will assist in the running of the carnival. Thank you to Mrs Litchfield, Infants teachers and Mrs Gale for their support in organising this important event. Family and friends are very welcome to join them throughout the day.
Staffing and planning for 2020
We are in the throes of finalising staff for 2020 and also class groupings and allocations. Staff interviews have been held over the past week to contract staff for the coming year. We hope to announce all the new appointments in next week’s newsletter. Sadly, Mr O’Brien, Mrs Maher and Mrs Cohen will be taking some time off next year and will not be part of the staff for 2020. We hope that they have a wonderful year filled with exciting activities and lots of rest and relaxation. If you have any special considerations for 2020 please make sure that you contact Mrs Trinder in the coming weeks.
Community Breakfast, Uniform Free and Mission Month
This Wednesday 30 October will be another one of our community breakfasts. Please come and join with staff and students to share fruit and a sausage sandwich. This also marks a Uniform free day. Students have been allocated a colour to wear to align with the Mission month activity of constructing rosary beads out of coins. Please check Mrs Maxwell’s instructions for more details. A gold coin donation or copious amounts of silver coins will be collected to make the beads.
Go gently and if you can be anything…be kind!
God Bless
Mrs Nicky Trinder
