These last weeks of Term 2 have been filled with exams, assessments and reports. It is traditionally a very busy time for everyone as we finalise the collection of information and data to accurately report to parents on their child/children’s progress. Once again we will be providing reports that are individualised for each students against the learning outcomes for that semester, and once again we will not be providing comments but will provide a very comprehensive report on work habits and engagement learning. When we return in Tem 3 there will be the opportunity to meet with the teachers to address any issues or queries you may have about the report. We are not exactly sure what this may look like considering the current social distancing requirements and the provision of permitting people to come on site. It may take the form of individualised one-to-one meetings in separate rooms or it may be a ZOOM. This is yet to be decided and we will wait on the most current directives before we make a decision in the best interests and wellbeing of the students and staff. Primary teachers have already made many phone calls to parents to keep them up-to-date on the progress of their child/ren. The teachers have been exceptionally diligent in processing all work from remote learning and face-to-face and the reports are very thorough and comprehensive.
The enrolment period and process is in full swing and we are hopeful of increasing our numbers for 2021. There will be lots of interested families touring the school in the final weeks of this term to see what a wonderful school we have and all the amazing things that we can offer to our students. If you know of someone considering enrolling for next year please let us know so that we can make contact to ensure that they realise what we have at Sacred Heart. There is no obligation to enrol when a tour is booked but it does give us a chance to show off our fantastic students, staff and opportunities.
Early this week we were visited by Mr Geoff Whitnall and Ms Penny Brown from Catholic Education Building and Infrastructure who were looking at the possibility of refurbishing the Primary building and some much overdue maintenance of the School Hall. This would be such a wonderful opportunity to bring our primary spaces up to the calibre of our infants space. We are hopeful that we will be eligible for a Building Grant to look at significant changes to the classrooms.
A quick reminder that Term 2 fees are now due and that it is very important to try and stay on top of the fees as they are vital for the financial management and operation of our school. If you are experiencing difficulty in making fee payments please make an appointment to meet with ma at your convenience and we can discuss options.
Thank you to the families who continue to support the canteen. We are very confident we made the correct decision in closing the canteen on Mondays and Tuesdays. So once again, this coming week orders will only be able to be made for Wednesday through to Friday. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we cannot afford to run at a loss. Hopeful in the new term we may be able to return to normal operation.
As per Government requirements we need to complete a census on attendance over a nominated period. This neccessitates that any student who is on extended leave for the entire census exclusion period Monday 29 June to, and including, Friday 7 August must have a writen explanation to be counted in the census as an enrolled student of Sacred Heart.
We will look to 2021 as our finest year after such a challenging 2020! But there is a lot to look forward to in Semester 2 2020.
Remember, kindness does not cost anything and it is a gift we can all afford to give. Have a fabulous weekend, stay safe, stay well and count your blessings.
Go gently, be kind to yourself and others.
God Bless!
Mrs Nicky Trinder
